Hiddenhillsforever it’s great to get you back on Nefarious Supply the last time we featured you was in September 2019 after the release of your newest project at the time WSTSIDE IN THE HILLS. So since then what’s new with you, how have you been, and what has changed in your career since then?

First off, appreciate you guys for having me, it’s been a minute. I took a lot of time to rebrand and create what I’ve considered to be a blueprint for myself as an artist in terms of branding, and setting goals to set myself up for a successful career.Since we last spoke, I’m now being managed by Tyland Jackson from Tay Keith’s label Drumatized. I feel that I’m definitely in the right place now more than ever to grow more as an artist based off-of the crazy opportunities ahead of me.

Aside from that, my name is growing everyday and I’m beginning to connect all the dots to get me where I need to go because of my hard work behind the scenes, it just feels like everything is falling in place foreal foreal. My main concern and focus is my mental health and physical health always, i leave the rest up to the most high.

How have you been growing your name and your network within this industry and since we last spoke, who are some new artists that you worked with?

Just networking through social media and just getting out more to put a face to a name, as well as utilizing my marketer to run ads and my PR on press releases to build my SEO. New features I would say would be on my new project titled “Hell Of A Night” I’ve worked with ImJaehall and Bryan Cheru. I have some crazy features in the vault but I cannot disclose who just yet just stay tuned.

In addition to building what are some things, you have learned about yourself and the music industry that you didn’t know back in 2019?

The industry is exactly what you make it, meaning how you carry yourself, who you decide to hang with, and how you decide to conduct business and who you decide to conduct business with. Honestly, as artists we feel rushed so a big lesson I’ve learned is to slow down and have your catalog, branding and some trustworthy people around you because It’;s either sink or swim in the industry and it can be a revolving door for anyone who does not have a solid foundation.

Also I’ve learned more about what luck can mean for an artist’s career “Luck Is What Happens When Preparation Meets Opportunity”, In other words”stay ready so you don’t have to get ready”, all it takes is the right place and time to change your life.

So back in 2019, you had just launched your independent label HILLSIDE RECORDS, so tell us about your experience going this route, and what are your plans with the label?

I always had a boss-like mentality and I’m such a self driven hard worker, so when i see some of my favorite labels such as, OVO, XO, Cactus Jack and more i just think why can’t that be me? I feel like I can accomplish anything and I have a group of talented individuals with the same vision and we all share a common goal. My Plan is to make a name for myself and put the gang on with me cause we already are some walkin platinum plaques just have to put that work in. It’;s there, I can feel it.

Currently what artists are you going to for inspiration and what albums are in your current rotation right now?

Don Toliver, The Weeknd, Billie Eilish, Blxst, Travis Scott and many more but I like to take an element out of each artist’s arsenal that makes them so dangerous and sought after in this industry. As for albums I don’t really keep up, I just put Spotify on shuffle and let it take me wherever.

So let’s get into your newest project “Hell of a Night” what was the inspiration for this project, how long did it take you to put it together, how does this project differ from your previous work?

IMG_0980.jpg

Man honestly Hell of A Night is about a Hell of a night haha it’s just where you find yourself out late trying to see where the night takes you and you’d be surprised what could happen in one night. It took a week to make because some of the songs had been recorded previously almost 2 years ago.

Bro this project has no misses from front to back which is a hard thing to pull off such a great job! Walk us through the project from beginning to end and tell us about each song, and which one is your favorite?

I made the EP in a sequence of event from going out into the night (Hell Of A Night), getting into it with other guys over a girl you love (Risk It), hitting rock bottom as you find yourself alone after turning your back on your homies over a girl that’s no good for you (Glum), leaving the girl and finding your balance again and gaining that confidence back as your homies pick you back up off your ass despite how you treated them (Lay Up), and finally the outro “endless” Where you find yourself right back after you said you were done because secretly you’ve become a creature of habit resorting back to what you’;re use to, drama.

So you featured two talented artists on the project South African artist Bryan Cheru (one of our favorites), and a newcomer Imjaehall. How did you connect with both and what made you place them as a guest on this project?

Bryan is an artist I’ve known for a minute now. Honestly my favorite artist out of SA, he has a soft, unique tone that just digs into any track and he absolutely takes over a track with such ease as well as our voices complimenting each other. It just made sense.

Imjaehall Is the homie, I’ve always felt we were long overdue to work together. He is a super dope songwriter as well as an artist and before him I had 3 other artists do the verse on “risk it” and they just couldn’t hit the pocket of the beat in the time frame given. Then here comes Jae and he just kills it first try, so that was crazy how that came about.

In addition to working with both artists who did you work with on production for the project and how did you connect with them?

IMG_0981.jpg

Coldsummer, Paperboyplay, Moflo Music, Zeevince, Buhakpg, and my homie Cryptic the goat and also shout out to my homies Mixed By Edwin and Moflo Music for mixing the project. Pretty much everyone is connected and familiar with each other’s work and it happened to be the right timing for everyone so with that being said we now have Hell Of A Night which is out everywhere on all platforms ya dig. No kizzy haha

So what’s next for you in 2021 where do you want to be by the end of the year, who do you want to work with, and what’s your biggest goal?

Definitely want to be a full time artist and working on a #1 hit especially after my album is complete that I’m so excited for frfr. Some collabs I would like are Eli Sostre, Amir Obe, Frvrfriday, PND, Khalid, Billie, ssgkobe just to name a few. It’s so much to be real. My biggest goal is to make music that changes people’;s lives as well as sell out a show in the biggest venue in My hometown/City Seattle, Take my family to the Grammys and just put my city on the map and that’s what I’;m going to do. You can bet that.

Who should we interview next?

Puku he really up next.

Any last words?

Aye man say man all ima say is stream Hell Of A Night On all platforms lets run this shit up and if you been rockin with me this far thank you I love you, It’s 206 to my city and you know It’s Hillside Till I Die!

Demon Discography - 2.17.21

Demon Discorgraphy.png

If there’s one thing we are pretty confident about, is that underground music is and will always be the newest sound and the force to drive the music industry forward. This is the reason we place such an emphasis on giving underground and emerging artists a platform, so the artists coming up today, are the big acts of tomorrow. With that in mind, we are extremely excited to update our Demon Discography! Our playlist which features nothing but underground artists. The last time we updated the playlist dates back in October of 2020, so we are super excited to share with you guys the music we have been bumping over the last couple of months.

This months update features a ton of new music from names we have featured here before as well as some artists we are hoping to feature including; Krew$, Foggieraw, Che Ecru, Tadafi, Serena Isioma, Stephen Jailon, Hidden Hills, Elujay & J.Robb, The Code, Lo Village, Alycia Bella, BIGBABBYGUCCI, Mathaius Yung, Blackmayo, Artie J, K. Forest, Maxx Owa, AAKHU, Zavage, Hrtbrkfever, AJay!, & Kayandre. All of the songs featured here are top tier but we wanted to highlight some stand artists as well as projects that are favorites of the team.

Mathaius Yung - Space Age Shit

One of our favorite artists right now, Mathaius Young, ended 2020 on a high note with the release of his project Angel Deep. Based out of Cleveland, Mathaius has been making music for the most of his life and it shows. Catching our eye at the beginning of 2019, we featured him on the platform and was already blown away by his discography at the time which included: ‘Take The Night Away’, ‘Take The Night Away 2’, ‘Burnin’ Castles (w/ Tre Capital)’, and ‘Boy Meet’s World’. A very solid artist as far as his discography, Mathaius Young is already a legend in the early stages of his career, and with the release of ‘Angel Deep’ Mathaius has further cemented his name as an artist that we have high hopes for in future. Featuring guest appearances from Michael Seven, Tre Capital, and WesWIll, Angel Deep is a must listen to, and if you want to learn more about Mathaius check out our latest interview with him which can be found here.

Eli Sostre - New Opps

Eli Sostre’s career has been nothing but phenomenal and for those that have been paying attention to him, you know that he is able to release great music on a consistent basis. Making his debut back in 2016 with the release of his project ‘Still Up All Night’, Eli came out the gate swinging. Still finding his unique sound, Eli Sostre has taken some the most prevalent sounds at the time and created a sound that is particular to him and even comes with the help of his go to producer, Soriano. From his 2016 release Eli Sostre has grown as an artist and has added great projects to his discography includingSleep Is For The Weak,Eros, and his latest project Emori’, all of which gets better and better. Eli Sostre stands out to us because not does he have his own sound, he has the ability to carry an entire project on his own with limited features, which is something that is not easy to find today in music.

Serena Isioma - Stop Calling The Police On Me

Serena Isioma has had the best 2020! From grabbing national attention with the release of her single Sensitiveas well as dropping her debut project The Leo Sun Sets. Serena may be in the early stages of her career but she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. ‘The Leo Sun Sets’ is a solid debut album with only features 7 songs, each song is packed with enough make you wanna listen over and over again. One of the first artists we interviewed in our early stages, we have watched Serena grow as an artist and it’s amazing to watch her achieve great heights and we know that she still has more to come.

Scotty Apex - Helpless

Another artist we featured, Scotty Apex, has been since releasing music since 2016 and with each new release he dead ass gets better and better. First coming up on our radar, we first interviewed the artist back in 2019 right before he released newest project at the time Lovesick 2’. Almost two years later and numerous singles, Scotty Apex followed up on the success of ‘Lovesick 2’ with his newest project Starlight, a project that raised the bar even higher for him and his music. Having guest appearances from Mathaius Young, Ejaaz, Michael Seven, and Maxx Owa, Scotty Apex is not going anywhere any time soon.

Maxx Owa - Day by Day

Last but not least, is rising artist Maxx Owa. New to our radar, Maxx is definitely someone that you should look for in upcoming rap. A discography that dates back to 2018, Maxx Owa may have a very limited amount of released music but the quality is always there. Having worked with one of our favorite artists and getting a personal referral from Kami Osha, we couldn’t help but to check him out and we’re more than blown away with him. He also just released his newest project Crescendo so be sure to check that out.

Carter - EYE TO EYE ft. Hiddenhills - Single Premier

EYE TO EYE.jpg

Carter is back again with the heat with his newest track, and holds a surprise in the form of guest feature, Hiddenhills! “EYE TO EYE” is the first collaboration between both artists, and boasts a strong Latin vibe, with seemingly small hints of Middle Eastern elements.

Hiddenhills and Carter flow in and out of effortless verses, overtop heavy, yet smooth, 808s and a beautiful and infectious melody. The song is an instant vibe and grabs and keeps your attention.

By the end, you’re mouse will already be hovering over the repeat button, guaranteed.

Carter had this to say about the description of the track:

“The track was written in the form of an eye to eye conversation with a female. It's straight forward, honest, and i think it's got a really bright sound combined with the instrumental.

The writing process for this song from both myself and hills were more or less freestyles. Hills hit me up to do some work, and i sent him this one with an open verse and got the song done really quickly, so it was definitely a pleasure to work with him, and there will be more coming from us in the future for sure.”

“EYE TO EYE” is live now, click the audio above and visit the official link on Soundcloud. While you’re there be sure to peep some of his previous work which can be found above. WSTSIDE IN THE HILLS - Album Interview

8753655A-4D48-467B-97BC-A36453CC21B3.jpeg

How did you meet Moflo Music and what led to the collaboration?

I met Moflo Music through a good artist friend of mine by the name Tarron Belle and he was like “bro you have to link with Moflo because he’s the goat” so i said bet and hit the bro up and it’s been effortless ever since.

Give us some background on WSTSIDEHILLS, what inspired the album and what themes and sounds were you going for in creating this EP?

I was going for a dark melodic trap/island in the hills sound for imagery purposes just to paint a picture for the listeners.

How long did it take to create the EP, and at what point did you know that it was ready?

2 days honestly but I ended up adding a couple songs later before the release.

IMG_2190.jpeg

The EP is truly heat from front to back with each song sounding different from each one, can you break down each song for us?

Yes of course starting with Involved which is about being out of a relationship with someone, but because you both are in the same area and you hear about each other and even though you lust for one another it doesn’t mean you should be involved with them because some people are just bad for you.

Speed is all about the transition between friendships and relationships where you start the process of elimination because some people just aint on the same shit as you therefore  they’re not up to speed.

762 is just a metaphor for a bullet symbolizing losing yourself for someone ultimately dying to be reformed but at the same time glorifying a ride or die women who is with whatever for her man. Sometimes we say “if a person doesn’t love me for me then i don’t want them” but sometimes we don’t own up to the fact that we must change to become a better person for ourselves and for who we love.

Cease Fire is all about someone not having to “put a gun to your head” for you to love them or treat them how they should be treated. The song can also be received as being rejected and let down but having the heart to withstand the pressure because some people go through a lot in life and it takes a strong person to be patient and be willing to break down those walls.

Yute is all about a girl talking down on my name and treating me like I am capable of making childish decisions with her heart such as cheating or lying to her but what she doesn’t know is that her friends are jealous and putting that in her head because they can’t find a man like me “misery loves company”

Criminal is all about being single and before you can blink you’re in a relationship and in love before you know it as if someone stole your heart.

Miss Out is all about whether or not a girl is willing to take this ride with me through fame and everything that comes with it and just be down for me and if not she got to go simple.

Let’s talk about the features, you feature 3 artists who we’ve actually interviewed before Hrtbrkfever, Serena Isioma, And Dazeoneast. What made you feature them in the EP, and what’s your background with them?

I discovered Hrtbrk through soundcloud I started with playing Frvrfriday and songs just kept playing until it got to one of his crazy songs called “Gunonsafety ft Lnlyboy” and his social media was attached so I hit him up and everything else is history that’s my brother for sure.

Serena did my interview for Nefarious Supply The Goats” and she hit me up when i posted “I need a female vocalist for my Ep” and she was so confident that something made me comfortable with choosing her even before i checked her music out. She is amazing!

Last but not least “The Carolina Reaper” , Dazeoneast I fuck with bro so heavy and he is very reliable for example if you send a open to him it’s going to be flawless when you get it back plus he is very genuine and lowkey with everything. All of these artists I named inspire me everyday and it’s no doubt that they will be big one day.

When can we expect visuals for WSTSIDEHILLS?

Honestly i want to take a route where I drop a visual of a single that no one has ever heard before and it just shocks everyone, just something fresh and unexpected.

What’s your favorite song on the EP and why?

Involved i just think as an intro it definitely hits and is very universal situation everyone can relate to.

What can we expect from you and HILLSIDE Records?

Winter is coming and this is when you will hear the best of me. Also visuals and more of a raw version of me  just being more vulnerable and open to let listeners in my life..

Anything you want to add?

Keep streaming Wstside In The Hills and tell a friend love you guys and remember to check on your friends and love-ones because it’s not just about the music.
