Demon Discography - 2.17.21

Demon Discorgraphy.png

If there’s one thing we are pretty confident about, is that underground music is and will always be the newest sound and the force to drive the music industry forward. This is the reason we place such an emphasis on giving underground and emerging artists a platform, so the artists coming up today, are the big acts of tomorrow. With that in mind, we are extremely excited to update our Demon Discography! Our playlist which features nothing but underground artists. The last time we updated the playlist dates back in October of 2020, so we are super excited to share with you guys the music we have been bumping over the last couple of months.

This months update features a ton of new music from names we have featured here before as well as some artists we are hoping to feature including; Krew$, Foggieraw, Che Ecru, Tadafi, Serena Isioma, Stephen Jailon, Hidden Hills, Elujay & J.Robb, The Code, Lo Village, Alycia Bella, BIGBABBYGUCCI, Mathaius Yung, Blackmayo, Artie J, K. Forest, Maxx Owa, AAKHU, Zavage, Hrtbrkfever, AJay!, & Kayandre. All of the songs featured here are top tier but we wanted to highlight some stand artists as well as projects that are favorites of the team.

Mathaius Yung - Space Age Shit

One of our favorite artists right now, Mathaius Young, ended 2020 on a high note with the release of his project Angel Deep. Based out of Cleveland, Mathaius has been making music for the most of his life and it shows. Catching our eye at the beginning of 2019, we featured him on the platform and was already blown away by his discography at the time which included: ‘Take The Night Away’, ‘Take The Night Away 2’, ‘Burnin’ Castles (w/ Tre Capital)’, and ‘Boy Meet’s World’. A very solid artist as far as his discography, Mathaius Young is already a legend in the early stages of his career, and with the release of ‘Angel Deep’ Mathaius has further cemented his name as an artist that we have high hopes for in future. Featuring guest appearances from Michael Seven, Tre Capital, and WesWIll, Angel Deep is a must listen to, and if you want to learn more about Mathaius check out our latest interview with him which can be found here.

Eli Sostre - New Opps

Eli Sostre’s career has been nothing but phenomenal and for those that have been paying attention to him, you know that he is able to release great music on a consistent basis. Making his debut back in 2016 with the release of his project ‘Still Up All Night’, Eli came out the gate swinging. Still finding his unique sound, Eli Sostre has taken some the most prevalent sounds at the time and created a sound that is particular to him and even comes with the help of his go to producer, Soriano. From his 2016 release Eli Sostre has grown as an artist and has added great projects to his discography includingSleep Is For The Weak,Eros, and his latest project Emori’, all of which gets better and better. Eli Sostre stands out to us because not does he have his own sound, he has the ability to carry an entire project on his own with limited features, which is something that is not easy to find today in music.

Serena Isioma - Stop Calling The Police On Me

Serena Isioma has had the best 2020! From grabbing national attention with the release of her single Sensitiveas well as dropping her debut project The Leo Sun Sets. Serena may be in the early stages of her career but she is definitely a force to be reckoned with. ‘The Leo Sun Sets’ is a solid debut album with only features 7 songs, each song is packed with enough make you wanna listen over and over again. One of the first artists we interviewed in our early stages, we have watched Serena grow as an artist and it’s amazing to watch her achieve great heights and we know that she still has more to come.

Scotty Apex - Helpless

Another artist we featured, Scotty Apex, has been since releasing music since 2016 and with each new release he dead ass gets better and better. First coming up on our radar, we first interviewed the artist back in 2019 right before he released newest project at the time Lovesick 2’. Almost two years later and numerous singles, Scotty Apex followed up on the success of ‘Lovesick 2’ with his newest project Starlight, a project that raised the bar even higher for him and his music. Having guest appearances from Mathaius Young, Ejaaz, Michael Seven, and Maxx Owa, Scotty Apex is not going anywhere any time soon.

Maxx Owa - Day by Day

Last but not least, is rising artist Maxx Owa. New to our radar, Maxx is definitely someone that you should look for in upcoming rap. A discography that dates back to 2018, Maxx Owa may have a very limited amount of released music but the quality is always there. Having worked with one of our favorite artists and getting a personal referral from Kami Osha, we couldn’t help but to check him out and we’re more than blown away with him. He also just released his newest project Crescendo so be sure to check that out.

Meech - I’ll Be Back Soon, I Promise - EP

Whatever is in the energy up in Massachusetts is definitely needed down here because one thing you can count on is the artists at Van Buren Records are always working and putting out quality projects in the process. and that that trend continues with the release of Meech’s new body of work “I’ll Be Back Soon, I Promise - EP”. It’s been a while since we heard some new music from Meech but that doesn’t mean he fell off at all, and the release of this newest EP feels like him picking right off where he left off and thats a good thing. Coming in at four tracks and featuring production from James Rogers, Zac Vaughn, Kiyoto, and Defstarz, as well as guest appearances from Luke Bars, Stefan, Drok, and Lord Afrixana. “I’ll Be Back Soon, I Promise” is Meech reminding his fans as well as his peers that he’s still here, and if this is any indication of what a LP will sound like we are more than excited to hear it.

[MYMHM 2] Stephen Jailon - Oakwood

woodoak.jpg

Stephen Jailon is back again with his newest release, Oakwood, an 11-track LP that spans topics of love, fake hustling, idols, clout-chasing, hunger for success, the strife for togetherness, the fear of losing, and ultimately loving what he does.

Oakwood puts the North Carolina artists back in his hometown, and surrounded by his roots, pulling from real experiences and fantasies of future success all within this 24-minute tracklist.

Take a look at our review of the new Oakwood album, on this episode of Music You May Have Missed! 😈

Hippies

Hippies is the breakout single from Jailon’s Oakwood tape, starting off the album on an upbeat note. The production hops and jumps with every inflection of the rapper’s tone and the subtle 808s swelling underneath the infectious hi-hats act as a perfect base for the synth-driven, triple-layered melody. Stephen rides all of this flawlessly, and reintroduces himself to those who forgot, reminding them that he’s “a king, period.” and to “turn it up so these f*ck n*ggas hear me!”

Smashbros

Taking a Latin approach with the production, Jailon shoots out the gate on a lyrical thoroughbred, racing along the beat and missing not a cadence nor beat switch. He alludes to many different topics on the track, from fake hustling, moving like his idols, spending the days in the East, and getting straight to the point. The beat is alluring and keeps you just as entertained and intrigued as the North Carolina artist.

Good Credit

A quietly fast-paced, uptempo track, Good Credit seems to be an endless void that Jailon seems to vent all his frustrations and truths into. Cold-blooded moves, staying strapped and ready at a moment’s notice, never letting his credit sour within the community you’re from, running through Raleigh, spending a rack like its virtually nothing, this is the essence of Carolina, and Jailon is giving us a ride in the passenger seat.

Go (ft. OMGItsBreezy)

An autotune-friendly melody and vocal performance by Jailon and the members of Ali Road Studios paints the foundation for both Jailon and Breezy, another upcoming trap artist from North Carolina, to bring heat as per usual. As if alley-ooping to a teammate, Jailon executes his verse perfectly, tossing up the third act of the track for Breezy to slam down with an autotune-refined finish, letting the instrumentals ride the last seconds out beautifully.

New Circus

On New Circus, Jailon speaks on the trials of living in North Carolina, growing up within the streets and hustling and giving back to his day ones, giving clout to those who don’t deserve it, how the internet has become the new playground for gang activity and violence, these themes are explored quickly, yet punctually and elaborately. Though New Circus is a short track, it slows down the production style of the tape, easing the listeners into Jailon’s next track, Setups.

Setups

Starting out with a Travis Scott-like introduction, the beat transitions slightly, adding the subtlest of harp-like progressions, which float lightly atop a smooth and deep 808, with a nicely-spread beat layered overtop. The melody seems to be carried off by a deliberately, slightly off-tune trumpet which wraps the instrumental up well. Stephen talks about how his lane differs from others, money-wise, female-wise, clout-wise, he rarely lets the beat breathe, not that it needs to, and talks game to those in his way.

Urgency

With an unknown sample being the centerpiece for Urgency, Jailon gets right to the point on this spooky instrumental. Jailon speaks on the familiar themes on this album, hustling, betrayals, fake love, money, drug running, fear of loss and hunger for success, it’s all there, and mixed and mastered perfectly for the listener to bop their head to for a good two minutes.

Body for Body

Body for Body is Stephen’s promise to those who’s been with him since the start that he will be there for them through thick and thin. He implores that they take care of their own and look out for one another. The simple production adds to accentuate what Jailon himself is saying and stays lowkey and supportive towards the end of the track.

Ghetto (ft. Woo$y)

Ghetto is the second track to present a feature on the Oakwood tape. Back to the roots of trap, the dark and brooding production returns as Stephen does what he does best and flows on the beat like butter. He talks his game and spits effortlessly for the duration of his verse. He references the Coronavirus and the sub-sequential quarantine that has taken place because of it, before passing it to Woo$y who picks up where Jailon left off, stating they’re taking shots like a vaccine. After an autotune-swelled vocal-riff of a verse, the two let the track ride into the darkness.

Identical

Identical is Jailon’s hardest flex on Oakwood yet. From boasting about Chanel, killing anything with a guitar beat, waking and baking, ignoring lames, working cash, loving what he does, and riding with his label, Ali Road Studios, Jailon’s confidence is through the roof, as it should be by this point in the tracklist. Having illustrated his life up until now, it was about time the artist spoke on his success.

Chillando

Chillando seems to be a slang-word used by Jailon and may be a North Carolina term, the word could be roughly translated to screaming or shrieking. On the track Jailon mentions this term more than once in different instances, but we deduce that it means “going wild” or “going crazy”. Do not take this translation as fact, as we’re speculating ourselves. Either way Chillando is a chill summer vibe that can rock on the subwoofers at any time of the day.

With great artists, and even better art. 😈

Stephen Jailon - Smashbros

A groovy first track for the list, NS veteran Stephen Jailon is back with a video for his new track Smashbros. With the Latin undertones of the guitar-led melody and the precise 808s hitting with the beat flawlessly, Stephen shows time and time again that he can have fun and still be the hardest rapper on the scene. Smashbros is a tribute to his discography so far and he holds his place a lyrical and flow-switching genius on the beat.

Michael Christmas - Credit (ft. Saint Lyor)

Credit is the collaboration between rising artists Michael Christmas and Van Buren Records’ heavy hitter Saint Lyor. Michael spits from the very second the track starts and begins his lyrical assault on the beat, partnered with alley-oops to Lyor who slams it down with his own uncompromising verses. The track is short but filled with fun and creative flow switches and witty lines from the two rappers, light-hearted and notable addition to our quarantine list.

Knightamore - 7deadly$ins (ft. Nessa Grim)

Coming in with hard production and roomy vocals, Knightamore and Nessa Grim completely body this track, whether it comes from Knightamore’s shadowy verses or the brooding chorus and outro and Nessa Grim, but the two come together in the best possible way. You can hear a snippet of a scene from 2019’s Joker, where Arthur is questioned by his psychiatrist. He states: “You’ve asked the same questions every week. How’s your job? Are you having any negative thoughts? All I have are negative thoughts.” The perfect summarization of this song’s main topic.

Shalom Dubas & Jake Vicious - 7 Days (Flip)

Shalom Dubas and Jake Vicious are an exemplary team on this track. Using the chorus from 7 days by Craig David 2000s flips. Vicious’s production slips underneath Shalom’s voice is like butter and no beat or melody seems out of place in the slightest, bringing together smooth and enjoyable track for a sunny afternoon.

Odd Mojo - Sunday, Monday

Probably the most quarantine-themed track on this last, Odd Mojo uses a velvety melody with a variety of sounds that compound and make a perfect base for her to spit freely and switch her flows up effortlessly. Mojo preaches to her fans about seizing the day, no matter if it’s Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, etc… any day is a chance for you to do something great, and the artist wants her fans to know you just have to get started because that’s the hardest part.

Arhinslim - Starlit

Arhinslim has just released a video to his track “Starlit” a song that made the cut on his 2019 album, Superfly. The playful synths correspond a delicate chiming, propagating a dark and mysterious melody. The hi-hats and kicks punctuate Arhinslim’s lyricism and varied flows that switch and refine themselves throughout the course of the track. Arhinslim speaks on his failures and successes, about his journey to where he is now and what he has in store for his fans in the future.

Mathaius Young - Poppin

Ending off our list is Mathaius Young with his newest track, Poppin. The production is smooth and the melody is composed of a collection of silky voices following a vocal progression over top a seductive 808, a guitar riff takes over towards the end and beautifully rides the beat out. On the track Mathaius seems to be swooning over a woman that’s caught his eye. He remarks in one of the verses that though he doesn’t like bringing up the past, she might even be better than the last.

Nefarious Underground 5

This week we at Nefarious Supply are gifting you all with another list of vastly talented and underrated artists. From blue dreams to baby mamas, artists such as Lango, TWNTYFOUR, Noddy North, THREE65, LNLYBOY, and Serena Isioma all make beautiful contributions to this week’s playlist and we’ll be getting into the some brief descriptions of some of these efforts below!

IMG_3445.jpg

The playlist opens up with a hard-hitting slow banger, “doubt”, by Eddy Benz, featuring Noddy North. The song surrounds the concept of debt and uneasiness in a world full of anticipating individuals. THREE65 fits perfectly on the feature, bringing the song to a much needed head towards the final bridge.

As if taking the baton away from Eddy, Noddy North crowns the next track with a brand new single of his own. “New Me” is a track centered around Noddy’s rebirth since his rise to fame. He rides over a saddened “Futsal Shuffle”-esque beat and runs from verse to verse with effortless flows and lyricism.

Throwing a long pass back to our playlist’s first feature, THREE65 takes it back with “LOOK WHAT YOU’VE DONE!”, produced by WORLDWIDETAK. On the track, 65 bemoans the company and presence of a specific female, saying how she makes him feel lost and crooning into titular chorus, overtop smooth and dark 808s.

IMG_3447.jpg

Fan favorite Stephen Jailon makes an appearance with his new single “Achoo!”. He talks about various topics, such as fake friends, new business ventures, how fast his life is moving how he wishes to slow it down sometimes. Over a solid trap beat, Jailon solidifies himself yet again.

TWNTYFOUR is back with another banger. “Problems” showcases the artist’s struggle with the everyday problems in his life. He croons “I’ve been sad but girl you know me”, and promises his love for the girl in question is deeper than most, as well as their connection. With top-notch production, TWNTYFOUR does it yet again.

Dutchboy and SAZ come together on the former’s new track “Oblivion”. While Dutchboy swoons over the girl of his dreams, SAZ comes in with a dreamy addition, bringing the track into his world, telling the listener he has all the time in the world, and how beautiful the feeling is to truly be in oblivion.

LNLYBOY’s drop “Honey Boy” takes us through his pride as an artist, the subtlest of flexes over a slow and bouncy beat and the eprfect use of autotune, as always. LNLYBOY crafts an entire vibe within two-minutes and twenty-seven seconds.

IMG_3448.jpg

Lango drops one of our favorite songs off the playlist with “Baby Mama”, a crowd mover off the sheer energy of the chorus alone, Lango uses minimal lyricism and uncompromising aggressiveness to ride the equally unshakeable 808 that’s sure to make the floor vibrate.

Serena Isioma’s “Sensitive” is a groovy and hard-hitting masterpiece. Serena switches between flow after flow and warns against people taking her shit, threatening to take their girl in retaliation. WIth an infectious chorus and a beautiful beat-switch towards the latter half of the track, Serena leaves her talent all over this track.

Doc Drvddy slides through with a jovial end to our underground playlist with his new track “Daily”, in which he reminisces on his life before his fame, whilst rapping about his daily routine of smoking a jay and rolling with the gang. He finishes his chorus of the upbeat and polished production with “I’ve been real since them days as a baby.”

With other new gems sprinkled within the mix, our NS Underground 5 is complete, check it out below!

Big shout out to all of our rising artists for their outstanding music. If you want to stay up to date with new music coming from any of them, you can find all of their social media and discography in the links as well as listen to the new underground playlist above!

Nefarious Underground 4

NS1 White.png

This week we at Nefarious Supply are gifting you all with another list of vastly talented and woefully underrated artists. NOVA comes in hot with “WHEN THE CD SKIPS” a short yet hard-hitting melodic banger. On the track the artist discusses his irritation with the world and how he’s had it with the nonsense, all whilst sliding smoothly over smooth 808s. Lule follows up with “HAHA” a jumpy, money-flaunting trap beat. He flexes his gains while laughing all the way, filling the chorus with his mirth and the beat with beautiful autotuned crooning. He makes sure his listeners know that you can’t go big on big time, and the track solidifies that fact. Josif Grey, a NS veteran who we’ve had the pleasure of interviewing, comes in with flawless artistry on his “Finesse Freestyle”, slowing down the vibes as he speaks to his female audience over a harp-sprinkled, lowkey. He illustrates all the places he’s willing to take her, how lowkey and personal he’s willing to be with her in order for them to both grow, and how pressed he is to show her off, with the flair only an artist of his caliber can provide. “Cocktails in Spain” continues the chill vibes, adding the spice of an upbeat melody. Offering to fly her out to Spain to get away from the stress of life, LoverboyBass reassures his girl that “You ain’t gonna have to look to no more, L-O-V-E’s right here.” “444” is one of the more fuller-length tracks on our underground hitlist. Featuring Wooski, the beat is signified by a beautiful guitar riff in the background, delicately playing atop the heavy 808s below. MARI TRUST ME slides on the beat with braggadocios bars whilst Wooski uses autotune as his musical weapon, slaughtering the beat with fact-dropping lyricism wrapped up in a singer’s vocal prowess. Aari Price, another newcomer to the hitlist, slows down the vibes once more with M.O.M. He rides a chill 808 swapping and connecting bars and thoroughly explains the meaning for this track’s acronym, “Money on my Mind”.

With an assortment of sounds that come together for a beautiful audio picturesque, KissedKilled dances around on “Come Here With Me” speaking on topics of vacation, summer love, and jealousy. It’s a short track, but an exemplary one,. Production-wise and lyrically, it hits just right. Hyping the vibes once more, TOPHILLFREDDO crashes in with “Triple Threat”, with guest appearances from DiorWhore and 1990Bishop, as well as production by the Danny Wolf himself, this track just can’t lose. Boastful bars and ostentatious production wraps this track in a neatly electric bow. Stephen Jailon, another NS veteran comes through with a new track to add to his impressive roster. “Type of Shit” starts out with infectious adlibs, followed by head-nodding lyricism and connective bars dropped all over a preserved trap beat that inspirits Jailon’s voice to shine even further. The song chops and screws towards the end for a smooth finish. 451 is next with “Sex Me Up”. The artist feeds his audience with deep synths and beautifully laid 808s underneath. 451 talks about subjects ranging from trust, sex, and staying true to his girl despite all the other distractions blowing the two of them every which way. In the artist’s mind, it’s him and her, no one else, a mindset we can all get behind. As if one banger wasn’t enough, 1990Bishop comes in hot again with another fire track. “Get Me Started”. Produced by Ronnie Choc, a long-time collaborator with the artist, Bishop follows the customary trend of the artist before him, where he speaks on loyalty, past misgivings, and being without options in a way wayward world. THREE65’s “addiction” dials the tone down a few notches. He confesses about his struggle with addiction when it comes to love as well as recreational drugs. In all aspects of his life, the artist has seemed to have dealt with addiction to some degree. The track, however, focuses mostly on his struggles with a recalcitrant woman who he’s in love with, for better or worse. Omari Night, yet another NS vet, grooves his way through the melodic masterpiece that is “Nasty”.The track features JXDYHILL and the two go back and forth, fantasizing about the whims and whiles of the girls that have caught their eye, all over a jovially chill 808 and a playful melody. TWNTYFOUR, an artist you’ve probably seen on the last Underground Playlist, is back with his new track “Oh Why”. Rapping over an instrumental created by SYKO, TWNTYFOUR speaks his confusion and anger about the distrust his partner has for him as well as his come up from the day he started to where he is today.

ROSERY HILLS asks the girl in question to tell him something he doesn’t know about her on “Maria Freestyle”. On the track he asks over a light synth beat, he flows endlessly at one point on the track and doesn’t stop for a full 30 seconds, before falling back into the subject matter of the track, which is giving him a chance to prove himself to her and vice versa. A reverse aspect hits the beat towards the end, finishing the immaculate track off nicely. Our last track on the playlist is ALVINISLAND’s self-inspired track “ALVIN WORLD”. The celebratory track boasts of luxurious cars, unfaithful partners, and proclaimed greatness. ALVINISLAND closes out our tracklist with a bouncy and satisfying end, with playful 808s and flute additions, the track wraps a neat bow on our 4th Underground Playlist.

If you enjoyed this playlist be sure to check out all of the artists featured on social media as well as their SoundClouds! Stephen Jailon - Oak CIty Blues

Screen+Shot+2019-07-24+at+10.44.15+PM.jpg

After a long wait Carolina artist Stephan Jailon dropped his new album Oak City Blues. The 28 track album which is split into a A-side and B-Side has Stephen showing is versatility as an artist, and flexing musical talent in what is just an intro of what is he has to offer. Oak City Blues is 28 crisp tracks that are filled with fun, love, and loss. I know you might see that “28 tracks” part and want to skim through the project, but you would be missing out on what is arguably one of the best underground projects this year.

“A.L.I Freestyle” the opening track chose for this project is sonically phenomenal, and what really ties the opening track together is the beat. Sampling Jasmine from Jai Paul the producer which is Stephen his self shows that he knows what he is doing not only vocally but is also a beast on the production end as well. In our latest interview with him we go on depth about the album to learn more about what inspired the sound for the album, why he chose to do an A - Side, B - Side track list, and many more. Find out more below.

Screen Shot 2019-07-24 at 10.45.43 PM.png

What does the title Oak City Blues mean for you and how does this latest album add value to your discography?

Oak City Blues for me is the alignment of a story fully hitting home and where I am with music right now and the value I think added for me personally was I finally think I made something in the direction I really want to go

Give us a background about Oak City Blues what themes, locations, individuals and experiences have inspired the LP?

Oak City for one is a name for the city, my city Raleigh, North Carolina the blues was added to gesture the themes of pain, hard-work, and dedication that runs deep in the city and state. Not to dive to deep but memory was the main driver for this project I tried to tap into the feelings of when we first had that good summer night party or the first love and the shortcomings in between to the recognition of truth and growth with me as a person and my situations etc..

What gave you the inspiration to do an A side and B side for the album and what type of vibes were you going for each side?

Honestly in my opinion I just noticed the full length albums were starting to come back into play for the masses and at first I originally prepared for two releases Word on Road was originally side A and OCB was originally side B but after countless sessions and listenings we figured we just compile the best of the two and show both sides of me in the booth

Give us walkthrough of Side A

Point Blank Side a for all the hard gritty, we gone get this money sh*t...real raleigh sh*t !

Screen Shot 2019-07-24 at 10.47.10 PM.png

Give us walkthrough of Side B

Side B I wanted a little more intricate I wanted this one to really capture the emotions and subtlety of the city

On production credits your name not only appears as the artist, but you also were executive producer, played a direct role in production of the majority of the songs, and also helped with engineering. How was it playing so many different roles in the making of the album?

That’s really how I make all of my music from ground up but i def have producers and engineers I love truly but most of the time I like to record like “next, next, NEXT” and when I don’t like something I go right back like oh the 808 should be like this or nah imma take this vocal out. You have direct access to it it’s not middle man I think everyone gets where I’m going with it...but I also really loved playing all the roles because I really get to treat and careful for my music like I know no one else will not a perfectionist but I definitely like to be apart of my process I don’t sit back and smoke all day in the Studio I’m really active in the yo, like leave me there by myself type sh*t!

Give us some background on Ali Road Studios, how and what kind of role did the collective play in the making of the album?

The team really kept my spirits high they’ve helped on some the production, promotion, and performance of the album. My favorite part of the team is the perspectives we are all from the same area mostly but very different views but it works so it’s dope ya know?!

On the album you only have two features Noah, and Krew$ can you tell us more about these artist and your decision in only featuring both?

Noah is Amazing, I consider him a brother first before the music shit he’s not only an artist but one of the best A&R’s in the city he gets every one from every crowd and can respond to each and get people that wouldn’t be in a room together on a stage or in a studio and that’s specials admire him and the The Lo$t Generation family’s work entirely.

I actually met Krew$ via Soundcloud long story short we chopped shit in dm’s and got to working Money Counter was the first song we ever made I remember I made the beat and laid my sh*t in the same session and I sent it to him and like the next day or so he sent his verse back and I just knew from then ok we make hits and Losing Faith was the second record and everything happened the same way exactly all over again so my brother Krew$ is a no brainer when you need the hits man

What was the timeline with the album, about how long did it take before you knew it was ready for release?

Really this album was a living process more than a musical one it’s some songs where I felt things that were pure to me fours years ago and some four months and for me it finally came together July and I decided the date like the first

What are some of your favorite tracks on the album and why?

Carolina Cruiser just cause it’s one of the oldest songs on there and I made that when I first started making music like one of my first few songs so to sit on that one for a while and just now release it feels super good, Weekdayz my second just because that whole song is really a conversation with myself and my demons

What can we expect in the future from Stephen Jailon, and Ali Road Studios

Stephen Jailon

Stephen Jailon Gilbert, known by his stage name, Stephen Jailon, is an upcoming artist from Raleigh, North Carolina. Below he answers a list of pre-sent questions that summarize a glimpse of who he is as an artist and as an individual.

Q:

What, and/or, who influenced you to pursue a career in music? For example, was there a specific person or experience?

A:

Yo, to the point, Kanye and my friends.

Q:

How did they?

A:

He told me to believe in myself when he said if you’re a fan of me you are a fan of yourself, I believe, but yeah I was definitely one of those kids he was talking about.

And the homies always said, “Bro, you should rap.”

Q:

With these influences at your back, how do you think your sound differs from every other artist in this generation? what about you do you think sets you apart from the rest?

A:

Nothing major, I’m just into the art.

Like really, the whole depth of being an artist. I’m also into monetizing everything in this streaming era, but I still like to pursue music for art sake everything isn’t about a check, and I’m understanding everyday what comes with this...

You have to be a voice for something.

I’m not afraid to work in new spaces, and lastly I wanna build a world.

I’ll leave that to interpretation

Q:

What is your personal process in creating music?

A:

I usually record myself.

I’m not a big studio guy. Although, I have no fear of the yo at all.

But yeah, I like being in my own space or just record wherever I’m at if i cant find a studio.

Q:

What do you think are the most important aspects of music?

A:

(Stephen listed these)

STORYTELLING

CREATIVITY

AESTHETIC

Q:

How do these aspects reflect you as an artist and do you use them in all of your engineering and recording processes?

A:

Completely.

I try to make all of my music relate back to my city or a situation/memory good and bad.

Ironically, I like my bad memories.

They fuel me completely now.

Q:

What is a day in the life of Stephen Jailon look like? Take us through your day-to-day.

A:

Usually a rushed morning.

Networking, meeting people, communication you stuff like that (love life is out of order but we working on that).

Then that’s usually followed by some creative time at Ali Road Studios, either designing, editing, or working on music.

I try to get a song or two done or produced at least everyday.

Q:

Lastly, what advice would you give for other aspiring artists in your field? any anecdotes are experiences to share?

A:

The upload button is your friend.

It’s so many people out here with fire in there notes, like bro put that piece of art out. And secondly, keep going.

Nothing is built in one or two releases even if one is a hit.

Foundation is what you should chase, and for that, you need bodies of work, and for that, you need a combination of things. But that’s another conversation for another day.

Cliche at most, but its definitely worth it to follow your ideas.

I’ve met some of my favorite artist and creators just being me never forcing energies or acting out of character when something major comes around.

P.S. - “Thanks for the opportunity and reaching out as well. MUCH LOVE FROM Ali Road studios!”
